Helloooooo
Here I am! I didn't fall off the earth completely. I haven't been a very good blogger, have I. I wasn't sure if I was going to continue or not. I took some time off. Quite a long time. And I am not very interesting. So, there's that. I might give it another go to see if the inspiration strikes.
Most of what I do it either education for the kids or related to knitting. I have really found a passion in me for knitting. Socks in particular. The colors, the textures, the patterns, all are just lovely. A whole new world! Most of what I will be putting here will be education or knitting. We'll see how it goes.
School this year:
I have one in 6th grade and one in 3rd. We started the new year this past week after taking a couple of months off. New plans are being formulated. I am trying to figure out how to change things up to make us more effective. It is a tough gig, educating your own. But worth it in the end for each of them to have a custom education plan. I will put it out here when I get things situated.

Sock it to me!
Again, there are spoilers in this post for the STR Notorious Sock Club. Go no further if you do not wish to see the March shipment.
This first sock in progress is a pattern on Ravelry called Anne Lacy Cuff Socks. The yarn is Panda Cotton. I am not loving working with this yarn. But I do want to have a pair made from Panda Cotton. It is light and comfortable. Plus, blues and purples are my colors. I am modifying the pattern by carrying the lace down the foot instead of just doing a stockinette instep. It is a very cute pattern. This yarn hides the details somewhat. A different type of yarn would make it pop a whole lot more.
This is a bridal garter I am making for my sister who is getting married next month. The pattern is called Eloping and came from Knitty. The yarn is Panda Silk in an icy blue. This will be her something new, something blue! The finished product will have ribbon/elastic running through it as well.
Finally, I finished the first sock in the Rogue Roses pattern. I LOVE this yarn! Socks That Rock are in the top on my list of favorite yarns. The pattern is cute and fun. I am very proud of this one!

Knitting galore!
First of all, if you are a Notorious Sock Knitter and are avoiding spoilers, do not go any further. There are spoilers on this page!!
I have done a fair bit of knitting and no blogging lately. A few people have pointed out the fact that I need to update this place again. So, a nice sunny day presented itself and I took some pictures of what I have been doing other than blogging as of late.
I have acquired a lot of new yarn from Wollmeise, Socks That Rock sock club, Hazel Knits, and Yarn Dyenasty. Gorgeous colors of all kinds have come to my house to live.
So without further ado, I now present a few pictures of socks, what else.
This first pair is made from Hazel Knits yarn in the color Laguna. Truly a wonderful yarn to knit with. Very tight twist and very smooshy to the touch. The pattern is called Artichoke Socks. Really a very simple pattern to work. I am very pleased with the matching of pattern to yarn for this one. They fit like a glove.
After this picture, are the spoiler pictures. Do not go there if you don't want to be spoiled, okay.
This is the March shipment from Socks That Rock yarn club. The yarn is of medium weight and is divine! The colors are not those that I would choose on my own. Yet, I truly love them! Here are a few pictures of the yarn in a skein and then unwound in preparation for the ball winder.
Here is where I am in the pattern thus far. The pattern was written by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, aka the Yarn Harlot. Again, this was not a pattern I would have chosen. And yet, I love it! I am obsessed with knitting this sock. It is coming out really nicely. Lots of fun to knit. There are so many new things that I have not done before like a picot hem, decorative rosebuds, and some interesting twisted stitches. The second sock will sort of mirror the first, I believe.
I am quite proud of these. They far exceed my expectations!

Lost
Did you think I got lost? Well, kind of. Just taking a break from blogging and such. Not that I have been actually doing a lot of blogging lately anyway. But I still have been taking a break.
Things are busy with spring soccer starting up. And lots of outdoors time before it gets too hot and buggy. I love the temps this time of year. Things are starting to bloom a bit here and there as well.
I don't really have anything earth-shattering to write about. Just muddling along like always. Oh, I did figure out that staying up really late for a bachelorette party makes an old gal like me kind of tired for a couple of days. But fun was had by all, and that's worth missing a bit of sleep over. Especially if said bride to be is my little sister. I think she had a good time with it all.
And now back to reality with lessons, soccer, laundry, and cooking again. We took last week off from lessons for a break. It was very much needed. We were all burned out and in need. Now, back at it for a few days before another couple of days off for other things. And then back at it again next week.
I hope spring is coming to your area soon. Get out and enjoy that weather if you can.

WIP Wednesday
I made a pair of fingerless mitts this week using Malabrigo Worsted. Quick and easy!
I also received the first shipment of goodies from the Hazel Knits sock club. These are the yarns, which are gorgeous! There were some other goodies in the package as well. Not sure what I am going to use these for yet. Love them!
And finally, I started a shawl out of Wollmeise in colorway Versuchskaninchen1, if I spelled it right. The pattern is Clapotis. The shawl will end up with a parallelogram shape and a pattern of ladder looking sections from drop stitches. I can't wait until this is done! It is a fun knit and the results will be beautiful, I hope. Oh, and see all those little stitch markers? I made them myself, with the help of the boys.
I actually have nothing in the way of socks in progress at the moment. Back to that next week though.
